CLIENT Catawba Science Center - Hickory, NC
CLIENT DESCRIPTION
a non-profit organization that serves area children
with educational and entertaining science-based programming.
OBJECTIVE
To promote and secure funding to expand the Greater Hickory Metro Area’s
Science Center to include a water touch tank and a digital planetarium.
CHALLENGES
To raise $3.6 million in capital for the expansion
of the center’s facilities and programs. The Science Center requested
that Gotham conceive a name and an identity campaign for the program,
including a logo, color scheme and custom communications package consisting
of a letterhead, envelopes, a pledge card, a comprehensive multi-page
brochure, a pocket brochure and web site.
SOLUTION
The Science Center felt strongly that the campaign
should focus on the water touch tank. Gotham created a campaign named ”Touch
the Future,” which featured graphics representing the focus of
the campaign — children. Both the centerpieces of the newly expanded
Science Center, the touch tank and digital planetarium, are represented
by starfish in the waves and stars in the firmament.
RESULTS
Within 8 months of launching the "Touch the Future" campaign
the Catawba Science Center exceeded its orignal goal of 3.6 million
dollars. Groundbreaking for the new Aquarium and Digital Planetarium
Annex is to begin in 2007!
